| What every parent should know before choosing a dance studio If most dance studios have friendly teachers and experience teaching children aren't they all the same? Does it really matter which school you decide to register at? The answer is YES. Often the little things make all the difference in the world in the quality of instruction your child receives. Here are 7 questions everyone should ask before choosing a dance school for their child or themselves. 1. Does the studio offer a comprehensive dance education? Our curriculum is designed to teach students how to dance not just how to perform a dance. We don't just teach the basics; Along with correct technique, our students learn proper terminology, dance history and music appreciation. 2. What is the education and qualifications of the teachers at the studio you are inquiring about for your child? Are the teachers currently involved in Conventions or classes for update new material? Our teachers are highly qualified and educated. We attend conventions and conferences throughout the year to ensure our instruction is up-to-date. 3. What are the sizes of the class you are inquiring about for your child? If the class has fewer students each child will receive more individual attention and learn more. Smaller class size allows the teacher to monitor each student to be sure the he or she understands concept and instruction. We limit class enrollment to 12 students per teacher, this ensures that each student will receive personalized instruction. 4. Does the studio offer classes based on a child's age and ability? If the child is put into a lesson not appropriate for his or her age they may feel under challenged or overwhelmed and frustrated and want to stop lessons. The last thing you want to do is turn a child off from dance because they had an unpleasant experience. Our classes are structured so that students receive instruction based on their age and ability level. Our philosophy is to never place a child in a class that would overwhelm or discourage him/her. We would rather place a child in a class where his/her self esteem would be built up, not destroyed. 5.Does the staff have depth and offer a broad range of skills and styles? Each dancer, no matter what his or her level is, should strive to find their own individual style. A diverse staff will offer exposure to the many different styles of teaching, styles of dance and styles of instruction giving the student an opportunity to develop their own style. 6. If you have a question or concern can you get immediate customer service? When classes are in session there will be at least one staff member at the front desk available to answer your questions. If you need to reach us outside of regular studio hours, simply call or email us and we will get back to you within twenty four hours. 7.Will students have opportunities to perform? In addition to performing in our professional end of the year show we encourage all of our students to perform at local parades and festivals as well as in our holiday show. Students will also be invited to participate in local, regional and national dance competitions. |
